We are very proud to share with you the news that Telefónica, Nokia and IE University have teamed up to launch an immersive learning experience at our Segovia campus, being the first use case in Spain to apply 5G technology, virtual reality and edge computing.

It is a seminar specialized in Segovian architecture by our professor and Vice Rector of Alumni at IE University, Miguel Larrañaga, together with our Head of Tech Lab, José Luis Martín.

The application of these technologies allows both the professor and the students to interact in real time with the content and with each other without being physically in a real classroom or in the building being studied.

To make this possible, it was necessary to deploy an indoor 5G radio in the Chapter House, and edge computing, Nokia technology, in one of the Telefónica headquarters in Segovia.

This work will be followed up with the project Education VR 5G Torre Caleido, one of the use cases included in the call for 5G Madrid Pilots, promoted by the Ministerio de Asuntos Económicos y Transformación Digital through Red.es, and co-financed with FEDER funds. We will keep you updated.
