As a consequence of the challenge of converting 100% of the programs to online format, we have adapted a series of functions, among which is the possibility of taking exams.
Smowl is an online proctoring and user identity authentication system. It is based on the use of the computer camera and advanced techniques of vision. This allows us to identify the student (extracting unique biometric parameters from his picture and comparing them with others already stored); and to monitor what the student does during the exam.
All the information of interest for Faculty can be found here, under the heading “Proctoring Tools” https://it.ie.edu/services/detail/campus-faculty. It is explained in four simple steps and in English and Spanish.
The information for Students can be found here, under the heading “Proctoring Tools” https://it.ie.edu/services/detail/campus-student- and in just two steps.
Our colleague Enrique Dans was the pioneer in the use of this software. You can know his experience here. https://www.enriquedans.com/2020/03/experimentando-con-herramientas-educativas-examenes-a-traves-de-la-red.html
This project has been possible thanks to the collaboration with the five Schools, Faculty, Learning Innovation Department, and also with IE Publishing Department, with whom we preselected the software.
