Yesterday took place the launch of the new Google Cloud region in Madrid, called Europe Southwest 1. This region is the first Google Data Center in Spain and in the Southern Europe. The objective of Google is to offer its high availability and low latency services, as well as to meet the development needs of Spanish companies to accelerate their digital transformation process.
The event was attended by prominent personalities from the world of technology and politics, as well as companies, including Carrefour, BBVA, Mapfre and IE University, which was represented by our colleague Ángel Javier Ripa.
This is the first of the openings that are expected in the coming months with the arrival of the regions being prepared by Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, IBM and Oracle.
It is estimated that the Google Cloud region in Spain will generate more than 10,000 jobs per year and around 1,300 million euros in Spanish GDP by 2027.
This announcement, in short, is an exceptional boost for the digital transformation of companies in our country.
